The mandate of most of the members of the present SC will end in September 2011. The term of the new elected members of the SC will start after the 7th annual meeting August 31st 2011.

Childhood Tuberculosis Meeting 2011 Piperska Muren Conference, Stockholm, Sweden; organized by the ECDC together with the childhood TB subgroup of the Stop TB Partnership
TBNET awards a scholarship for Dr. Sophia Alexandru from Chisinau, Rep. of Moldova to attend this meeting. Dr. Alexandru is an expert in pediatric tuberculosis and responsible for the care of children and adults in one of the largest tuberculosis hospitals in Europe.

TBNET members have elected a new TBNET Secretary:
Dr. Raquel Duarte Bessa de Melo from Portugal
Dr. Duarte Bessa de Melo is an attending chest physician at the Centro Hospitalar de Vila Nova de Gaia/Espinho and at the Chest Disease Center - an out-patient TB clinic in Vila Nova de Gaia/Portugal. Since 2008 Dr. Duarte Bessa de Melo coordinates the Reference Centre for Multidrug-resistant Tuberculosis for the North of Portugal. She replaces Dr. Giovanni Battista Migliori, Italy, in this position, who has contributed significantly to the success of the TBNET in the past years.
